Ripple’s $25M Education Push: How Crypto Is Powering Classrooms

Ripple stablecoins transforming into educational tools like books and laptops in a classroom setting, illustrating the impact of crypto funding on U.S. education.

In a move that blends blockchain innovation with education, Ripple is donating $25 million to help improve financial literacy in U.S. schools. The funds will go to two leading nonprofits — DonorsChoose and Teach For America — with a large portion distributed in Ripple’s very own stablecoin, RLUSD.

This isn’t just another donation. It’s a strategic effort to put digital assets to work in real classrooms. From buying supplies during Teacher Appreciation Week to expanding tutoring programs and STEM opportunities, the funding will directly support teachers and students.

Ripple says its goal is to help students build financial resilience and prepare for a changing job market. And with stablecoins now making up over 50% of all crypto transaction volume, it believes now is the right time for nonprofits to explore crypto-powered philanthropy.

Teach For America plans to use the funds to enhance its Ignite Tutoring Fellows and support early-stage educators. DonorsChoose will cover thousands of teacher-submitted requests for classroom resources—often items teachers are forced to buy with their own money.

Ripple launched RLUSD in December 2024, fully backed by U.S. dollar reserves and short-term treasuries. It’s a practical tool, the company says, not just for crypto users but now for classrooms, too.

CEO Brad Garlinghouse summed up the vision: “We hope to reach thousands of classrooms—and inspire others to follow.”

Ripple has donated more than $200 million to nonprofits and education since 2018, and nearly 80% of its employees participate in community initiatives. This new donation marks another step in showing how crypto can create real-world impact beyond trading platforms.
